Mountainside Carved Houses

Mountainside carved are the traditional Santorini houses. These are houses built inside the earth in order to have best temperatures during cold winter and hot summer. Their ceilings are domed for best earth support. The construction consists of two houses. One is 75 m² and the other one 120 m². The small one is connected to the stone house with an internal staircase and is about 5 meters tall in the center of the rooms. The second one is about 4,2 - 4,5 meters tall, independent, and it has a huge water container, which collects rainwater from the yard.
